Positive Thought Perspectives of Life – Come Follow Your Bliss

Positive Thought Perspectives of Life.

Today, I would like to share with you on a slightly different topic rather than on Travel. However, though it is different, this topic has led me to the life of my dreams where I am following my bliss! Since the last couple of years I have been focusing a lot on positive thoughts and I have seen the positive outcome in my life.  Today, I thought I would share with you some of my Positive Thought Perspectives of Life , all these pointers are just a summary of what I have read, watched on YouTube videos etc. It has helped me tremendously and hope it will be of some benefit to you too:

1.Feeling of Gratitude:

I think that the first thing that we should do when we wake up in the morning, is to Thank God for all the blessings that He showers upon us each day.  The first blessing being that you were able to wake up this morning! We tend to takes things for granted. Not everyone is fortunate enough to wake up each day! So wake up with a feeling of gratitude in your heart and give thanks for all the blessings you are receiving. Thank God for every member of your family who wakes up with you. Thank God for this beautiful day. Thank God for the air that we breathe. Thank God for the gift of the good health bestowed upon us.  Thank God for protecting us through the night and granting us the blessing to see another new day.

The list of blessings that you can thank God for are endless. Continue with that feeling of gratitude throughout the day.  This series of thanksgiving continues throughout the day and believe me, it will become a way of life with you. You will always be in a state of Gratitude and this feeling of Gratitude will give out positive vibes around you and you will in turn attract everything that is positive towards you, positive vibes, positive people, positive circumstances, positive results etc. Try it! I have done it and it works! I am grateful for my family, my  relatives, my friends, my job, my colleagues and I am grateful and feel blessed for meeting my travel buddy. So yes, I have a lot to thank and be grateful for.

2.Every new day is a Second Chance:

I was watching a movie recently (I don’t remember the name now), where I was struck by one phrase: “Every new day is a second chance!” How beautiful is this sentence and how much meaning and depth it has! Truly every new day brings with it a second chance for us. We need to grab every of these second chances that we get with open arms! If we feel that we have failed or not given our best in our workplace, family life, personal life, relationships, it’s not too late, because we do have a second chance (not one, but endless) as every new day, brings with it a second chance to make amends, to fix things.  So do not waste these countless opportunities that come your way. Seize it and make your day and create the life that you want it to be.

   3. I Am:

I have also been inspired by Joel Osteen’s book “The Power of I am”. I haven’t read the book, but I have watched Joel’s Osteen’s YouTube videos describing the book in a nutshell and it kind of stuck with me. The power of “I am” talks about what follows the two words: “I am”. A lot people go around with these words: I am tired, I am not beautiful, I am slow. By uttering these negative words repeatedly in our lives, we are attracting and inviting these very things into our lives. Most of us underestimate ourselves and we keep playing these negative thoughts in our minds throughout the day and the outcome would therefore be invariably negative!

So it is so much better to turn it around and instead say: I am blessed, I am healthy, I am talented, I am beautiful. If you have the wrong “I ams” playing in your life, you are going to miss your destiny. However, if you have the right “I ams” playing in your life, you are sure to create for yourself the life that you wish for, the life that you want.

4. Our Choices:

So often in life, we come across cross-roads. We need to stop and decide or choose which crossroad to take. What determines our choice of crossroad? I think it is very simple, but we tend to complicate matters. Literally speaking, If I reach a cross road and I have to choose which road to take, it is quite obvious that I will choose the road which leads to my destination! I will ignore all other roads. Why can’t the same be applied in our lives? Why do we complicate things? I always choose the path which leads to my destination. Now comes the question, of what is your destination? Ha! Here is where we get stuck. So many of us don’t know what is our destination, what is the goal we are trying to reach. Once we have figured out what we want in life for ourselves, we will be able to make our choices.

I know that it is easier said than done. Life is not pure black and white. It has a lot of greys in between, which cloud our decision. But once we are able to figure out what is it that you desire or makes you happy, you will automatically know that you are going in the right direction. Any choice that we make, if it does not give us a good feeling within us, if it does not let out a good and positive vibe around you, cannot be a good choice! And you will know that sooner or later.

5. Follow your bliss:

This is my most favourite and sure shot indication that I am doing the right thing and that I am on the right path – Follow your bliss. As I already mentioned earlier in my post Follow Your Bliss . This phrase was coined by noted mythologist and writer – Joseph Campbell.  I chanced upon this phrase when reading the book – Hero by Rhonda Byrne and since then this phrase has become close to my heart.

If you do follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in your field of bliss, and they open doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.” – Joseph Campbell

So often in life, we end up pursuing dreams and goals, which are not really our dreams. We become people who follow other people’s dreams, trying to fulfill their unfinished dreams and in the process make their dreams our own, which is the sad part. I am not saying that it’s altogether wrong; if by fulfilling others unfinished dreams bring you happiness and is also your idea of bliss, please go ahead and follow it, however, if that is not meant for you, then please spare yourself the torture.  Take time out and find out what is your bliss and follow it with all your heart; this is a realization which comes from within and not something that will happen by my saying or somebody else’s saying.

6. Do not be afraid to make mistakes:

Yes, you heard me right. Do not be afraid to make mistakes, because these very mistakes will make you and mould you the person you ought to be, provided you learn from your mistakes! Keep learning, keep re-inventing yourself. Don’t get complacent. Try out new things. You may fail a couple of times initially, but that is okay, it is not the end of the world. Keep trying and sooner or later you are bound to succeed! Do not let other people’s negative thoughts pull you down and make you retrace your steps! If you have failed, learn from your mistakes and move on in life. The idea is to keep moving forward. A river always flows forwards, it never flows backwards.

7. Be prepared to bear the consequences of your choices:

Once we are sure that no matter what happens, we are ready to bear the consequences of our choices – Good, Bad or Ugly, we can move ahead in life fiercely and without any fear. Mostly, it is fear that cripples us and prevents us from making the choices we want to make.  Fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of what people will say if things go wrong. I believe that these fears our absolutely baseless. Who are these people who will reject you? Who are these people who will say unwanted things, if things go wrong in our lives? These are people who will not be taking ownership of your life any which ways whether it fails or succeeds. These people are not your parents, they are not your family and they are not your friends who mean well for you. These people are those who will always have something to say and who definitely don’t matter in your life.

So why bother? Go ahead, be brave and make your choices and at the same time, be prepared to take ownership for these choices. That way, your choice will be your own decision and you will have control over your life. You will not blame others if any of the  choices you made, do not turn out as expected by you. Do not let anybody else control your life. Be the creator and master of your own life.

8. Be inspired:

I think we should keep getting inspired by others. There are so many wonderful people out there, who against all odds have gone ahead in fulfilling the life of their dreams. Read up on such people. Watch inspiring YouTube videos. We will be bound to get inspired by their stories. We will realize that it is not impossible to achieve what we want to, despite of all our own odds. If everything in our life was smooth-sailing, then we wouldn’t have a chance to overcome these challenges. It is the bitter-sweet success that we experience after facing all the odds and challenges, which makes life worth living and sharing it with others to inspire others and in the process get inspired too. So be inspired by others.

9. Get outside of your comfort zone:

Most of us tend to be happy and content in living our lives within our comfort zone. There is no harm in that. We follow a safe pattern of life. We become complacent; we do not wish to take risks. I too used to believe why unnecessary stir things up. Let things be as they are. Sometimes though, when we eventually feel that nudge that we need to do something else, something more that will make us feel more alive and not just a feeling of mere existence, at that stage in life, we need to get out of our comfort zone. This is again, easier said than done. It requires us taking the first small step, and then it gets easy. It is tough to push ourselves beyond the boundaries we have created for ourselves. The years of brainwashing have made us into the people we are – safe, not wanting to take risks, not wanting to know the unknown. We need to shed our inhibitions. We need to turn over a new leaf. So it will not be an overnight effort to break these boundaries and step outside of our comfort zone, but it can be a beginning and the rewards of doing things outside of your comfort zone are immense! Believe me.

10. A life well lived:

Lastly, all our attempts to keep our lives simple, happy and stress-free are for what? All our attempts to learning from our mistakes, making difficult choices and moving ahead in life are for what? This journey called life, is leading us to what? I don’t know the answers to these questions for you, but I do know it for myself. This question will have relative answers and may differ according to your aims and goals in life. All our positive thoughts and energies will help us in a life well lived, a fulfillment in itself. I was watching a YouTube video where Indian Actor Priyanka Chopra speaks on “Breaking The Glass Ceiling” and her last sentence which was a quote from somebody, stuck with me forever. She said that she had read it somewhere and it goes something like that “Life’s journey is not to arrive at your graveside safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in the sideways, completely worn out and say, wow! that was a ride! And that is how even I want to go!”

And that is how even I want to go 🙂 But before that, can’t help remember this lovely poem by Robert Frost:

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening:

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Till then keep traveling and keep sharing your stories here.
